The master plan and scale model of the La Salle Botanical Gardens (LSBG) to rise within the Alviera estate in Porac, Pampanga were recently unveiled to the public in an event at the De La Salle University Manila, attended by its project team members and representatives.
Clarissa Leonio-Asuncion, President of Leonio Land and Chairman of Nuevocentro Inc., the joint venture behind Alviera, recalled when they first approached the La Salle brothers for a campus in Alviera. “When they came back with the proposal for the La Salle Botanical Gardens, I must admit we were initially disappointed,” she said. “However, after learning more about it, we came to appreciate its value to the Alviera community. We realized that the LSBG concept is an innovation in education.”
The La Salle Botanical Gardens covers a 24-hectare sprawl in Alviera, envisioned to be one of the best botanical gardens in the world—a venue for education, exhibition and research as well as recreation. It focuses on nature conservation and sustainable practices, with the aim of making a positive impact on its guests to contribute to preserving and becoming stewards of God’s creation.
The botanical gardens focus on biodiversity, social activities and outdoor learning, and habitat optimization. It will support public programming of a wide variety of activities—international, scientific, and cultural events and festivals.
“LSBG will surely be a global tourist attraction that the Philippines can be proud of. It is truly world-class,” added Leonio-Asuncion. “It is a gift and a blessing not only to the Alviera community but to all Filipinos.”
